Specialized Law Enforcement Instructor

Job Description

SGI Global is seeking Specialized Law Enforcement Instructors for the United States Capitol Police (USCP). Qualified instructors will be responsible for providing general entry-level and in-service training to all sworn and civilian employees, supervisors, mid-level managers, and command staff.

• Prepare and deliver course materials, including content, sequence, timing, presentation, and instructional methodology.
• Rate and score students, officers, and officials participating in training programs, and make initial qualification determinations based on departmental standards.
• Analyze training policies and processes, recommending revisions based on research, industry standards, and departmental policy changes.
• Research and analyze relevant case law for course content, evaluating and revising as necessary. Outline coverage, goals, techniques, aids, and timing for lessons.
• Write and prepare lesson plans, course materials, evaluations, and management recommendations accurately and concisely.
• Adjust lesson plans as necessary to reflect changes in law enforcement procedures, equipment, and techniques.
• Evaluate and advise on students' progress through observation and testing.
• Stay informed of literature and materials in assigned areas, evaluate new materials, and participate in workshops and seminars. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling, record-keeping, and property management.

• Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Center's (FLETC) Law Enforcement Instructor Training Program (LEITP) or equivalent.
• Effective verbal communication skills in an adult learning environment.
• Experience in developing and executing lesson plans using traditional and innovative methods with adult law enforcement learners.
• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Police Science, or equivalent, OR at least 10 years of law enforcement experience (with 5 years of instructor experience substituting for education).
• Preference for Federal Law Enforcement Officer experience and/or Law Enforcement Instructor experience.
• Knowledge across various law enforcement fields, including dignitary protection, protective operations, site and airport advances, motorcade operations, tactical combat casualty care, defensive tactics, use of force, firearms, and more.
