Operations IV/Head Custodian

Custodian IV employees are responsible for the routine safety, security, upkeep, general cleanliness, and maintenance of healthful environment of buildings and grounds owned by the Cecil County Public Schools.

1. Performs duties and responsibilities of Operations/Custodian I employees.

2. Provides leadership and trains other personnel.

3. Performs grounds work as assigned including grass cutting, snow removal, etc.

4. Operates and assists in the maintenance of heating and ventilating systems, including boilers, air handlers, and chillers.

5. Operates computerized energy management systems where installed.

6. Advises Facilities at all times of repair and maintenance action required for plant equipment.

7. Identifies and carries out preventive maintenance responsibilities and assists the Maintenance Department and others as needed.

8. Prepares the master cleaning schedule, identifies shift schedules, and advises the Facilities and Operations Departments of replacements or assistance.

9. Orders and administers proper use of supplies and maintains a system of stock control of supplies.

10. Performs preventive maintenance inspections and duties (changes filters).

11. Maintains preventive maintenance logs and other records as required.

12. Makes minor repairs to equipment as required.

13. Assists organizations using school facilities.

14. Arranges rooms for meetings and conferences.

15. Has received training and understands the AHERA law, Right-to-Know, IPM, and other regulations.

16. Able to lift 50 pounds.

17. Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

18. Maintains regular on-time attendance.

Minimum Requirements of the Position

1. Has graduated from high school or has equivalent reading and mathematics skills.

2. Has at least three years of custodial experience in an elementary school or middle school and/or the equivalent.

3. Has good interpersonal communication skills.

4. Must complete AHERA training requirements within 30 days of hire.

5. Holds a valid driver's license.

Salary:
The salary range for this Operations IV Head Custodian position for the year  is $51,887 - $61,731, depending upon creditable experience and training. Advanced preparation and longevity increments are in addition to the base salary. The salary schedule with these increments can be found here:
