The Opportunity

URGE seeks an experienced, organized, and impact-oriented Southern States Field Director who is passionate about reproductive justice, youth organizing, and integrated voter engagement. At the core of URGE's mission are our values, commitment to gender justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, disrupting anti-Blackness and dismantling white supremacy. We seek candidates whose values are aligned with those of our organization.

The Southern States Field Director ensures the smooth and continuous execution of field operations, supervising organizers working with campus chapters. In addition, the Field Director expands the organization's growing cross-movement work, identifies emerging leaders, and builds relationships with organizational allies and partners. Reporting to the Chief Organizing Officer, the Southern States Field Director is a core member of the Management Leadership Team.

The Field Director manages staff in three states (Alabama, Texas, or Georgia), in collaboration with the Midwest Field Director, who manages Ohio, Kansas, and California. The ideal candidate will be a talented organizer with staff management and training experience, skilled at engaging diverse communities, and a self-motivated and accountable leader, who works well in teams and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates living and working in Alabama, Texas or Georgia will be given preference, though candidates living and working in any Southern state will be considered, particularly those with experience in Alabama, Georgia, or Texas. Position requires travel to Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Washington, D.C. and other program locations.
