ResponsibilitiesDirects the implementation of technical skills development and training initiatives for newly hired production employees and ongoing training of current employees. Responsible for designing, building and executing a best-in-class training system for our production workers. This position will create and maintain a standardized approach to production technical training to ensure safety, technical competence and enhanced skill development for our employees, documenting proper training materials, reporting on training progress and making recommendations to enhance the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides new hires with a one-on-one learning experience.
- Designs and develops production training programs in all production areas.
- Identify and implement the appropriate training methods or activities to ensure program is effective.
- Assesses program effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills.
- Ensures all trainees are capable of producing a product that meets recognized standards and customer expectations.
- May provide remedial and supplemental training to employees to assist them in learning proper job function(s), safe work habits or cross training.
- Advises management team on training opportunities as observed and develop action plan as appropriate.
- Gathers feedback from trainees to ensure training effectiveness and acts independently to improve training process.
- Develops and maintains the knowledge and skills needed to meet current and future job responsibilities.
- Effectively communicates with individuals and teams by using positive interaction skills and the key principles of communication.
- Provides professional assistance and expertise and maintains effective working relationships within and outside the department.
- Flexible and willing to periodically work on varied shifts to obtain the goals of the training program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains and updates work instructions/job breakdown sheets.
- Maintains and updates Training Matrix.
- Regular and reliable attendance.

Anticipated Pay Range$62,000 - $91,000

Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Career RequirementsREQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 5 years of experience in the Steel Industry or high school diploma or equivalent and 7 years of experience in the Steel Industry.
- Possess computer skills to include MS Excel and Word.
- Works in a safe and conscientious manner.
- Possess the ability to communicate information and ideas effectively.
- Welding, Crane operating, Rigging, and Machine operating skills.
- TWI Certification preferred.
- Ability for some local travel to job sites.
- Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
- Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Occasional adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Constant use of computer for prolonged periods.
- Constantly thinking and processing information.
- Constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks.
- General office environment.
- May require occasional exposure to production areas with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering a manufacturing plant.
- May be required to periodically work on varied shifts to obtain the goals of the training program.

Mon - Thurs 6:00AM-3:30PM / Fri 6:00AM-2:30PM / Sat 6:00AM-12:00PM + OT as needed
