The Materials Managerat Iron World Manufacturing is responsible for controlling, executing, and reporting all materials and inventory activities supporting aluminum, steel, and vinyl fencing production. This role is accountable for inventory accuracy, location integrity, and material flow visibility, ensuring the Supply Chain Manager (SCM) hasclear, timely, and actionable inventory datato support production planning, purchasing, and growth initiatives. This position serves as theowner of inventory integrity and location control across raw materials, WIP, yard stock, and finished goods within Iron World’s ERP environment.
Responsibilities- Own and maintain
inventory accuracy across all Iron World facilities - Design, implement, and maintain warehouse and yard locations
- Physically (layout, labeling, flow)
- Systemically (ERP location structure, rules, controls)
- Ensure all material movements are
properly transacted to correct locations - Lead and enforce
cycle count programs (ABC classification, variance thresholds) - Investigate discrepancies and drive
root-cause corrective actions - Partner with Production, Warehouse, and Purchasing teams to eliminate inventory errors
- Support annual physical inventories and audit requirements
- Prepare and deliver
weekly and monthly inventory control reports to the SCM, including: - Inventory valuation by category (Raw, WIP, Finished Goods)
- Inventory accuracy by
warehouse and yard location - Inventory turns and days on hand
- Excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory
- Material shortages and production constraints
- Make vs. finished goods ratios
- Highlight
risks, trends, and corrective actions
—not just raw data - Support executive- and ownership-level reporting with accurate inventory insights
- Execute material flow in alignment with production schedules
- Coordinate closely with Purchasing and Production to ensure:
- Timely material availability
- Accurate staging and issuing of materials
- Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and BOM accuracy
- Proactively flag material risks impacting aluminum panel, steel, and gate operations
- Min/Max levels, safety stock, and planning parameters remain under SCM ownership initially
, with the opportunity to assume additional responsibility over time
- Act as
materials and inventory system owner
within xTuple ERP - Maintain accurate:
- Item-location assignments
- Inventory attributes
- Location rules and controls
- Drive transaction discipline (receipts, transfers, issues, adjustments)
- Support ERP audits, upgrades, and future ERP migration initiatives
- Train operations staff on
correct inventory transactions and location usage - Reduce excess inventory, rework, and material handling waste
- Standardize inventory- and location-related SOPs across Iron World facilities
- Support lean manufacturing and scalability initiatives
- Future growth opportunity:expand role to include
shop-floor material buying and executional purchasing
, once systems and controls are stabilized - Partner with SCM on evolving inventory strategy aligned with sales mix and demand patterns
- 5+ years experience in
materials management or inventory control (manufacturing preferred) - Strong experience with
inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and reporting - ERP experience required (xTuple preferred; Net Suite or similar acceptable)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, analysis, reporting)
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
- Manufacturing experience in aluminum, steel, or building products
- Experience supporting
yard-managed inventory - Lean / Continuous Improvement experience
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus
- Inventory accuracy %
- Location accuracy (warehouse & yard)
- Cycle count compliance and variance reduction
- Material shortages impacting production
- Excess & obsolete inventory value
- ERP transaction accuracy
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related fieldor equivalent professional experience with a minimum of 5 years in Materials Manager Role
