Gibson McIlvain is more than just materials and with our comprehensive architectural millwork facility, we offer custom millwork services from interior trim and cabinetry to exterior siding, pergolas, and furniture.
The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for accurately counting, and identifying stock located in the lumber yard. They will be responsible for the accuracy of those counts. They will also be responsible for communicating damages, and/or losses with supporting photographs and documentation. They will follow procedures to accurately adjust inventory for over/short, defective, and damaged materials. Must have a clear understanding of basic math and can read, write, and comprehend English.
Prepared to work outdoors in all seasons and conditions.
- Accurately controls and tracks physical inventory, notifying management of any shortages and discrepancies; researches and resolves inventory discrepancies.
- Works closely with bank and insurance representatives when necessary.
- Maintains and manages accurate records of quantity, type, and value of materials stocked.
- Maintains and oversees inventory database.
- Scan location of all inventories in this facility and alternative locations a minimum of four times a year, upload information into our inventory database.
- Spot check “counts” in each species sheds in each department quarterly, selecting several (25 to 30) open packs of lumber, do a physical count and compare to inventory database count. Report all discrepancies to direct supervisor with documented specifics.
- Spot checks receiving process, ensures documentation is completed correctly and attached to purchase orders in Lumber Track.
- Performs required administrative tasks; prepares all required reports and correspondence.
- Identify packs and their location to assist Order Fillers and Forklift Operators.
- Run aging inventory reports monthly, print out oldest packs in each species shed’s inventory, provide information to order fillers (and their supervisors) to pull these packs first when filling orders.
- Provides list of items/packs for moving to Forklift Operators.
- Keep track of low or necessary inventory to prompt orders from suppliers.
- Work closely with the Mill on inventory to be remanded or returned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.
