Job descriptionThe HP 12000 Indigo Operator is a specialized, highly technical role responsible for managing the daily operation, maintenance, and output of the 29‑inch HP Indigo B2 digital press. This position ensures high‑quality production, precise color accuracy, and maximum press uptime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Press Operation- Operate the HP 12000 Indigo.
- Provide accurate turnovers to the incoming shift.
- Monitor the press for daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance.
- Operate hand trucks and floor jacks.
- Ensure all completed output products are delivered to their appropriate destination.
- Operate the press to meet production and quality standards, including setting up and calibrating the press for high‑end commercial jobs.
- Perform quality checks before, during, and after each production run.
- Order stock from the warehouse as needed for jobs.
- Notify the Supervisor or appropriate Customer Service Representative of job completion and any stock shortages.
- Ensure all paperwork related to production output is processed according to established procedures.
- Maintain constant communication with the supervisor, especially during problem situations or periods of heavy workload requiring quick turnaround.
- Immediately report all production delays to the supervisor.
- Work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Perform QC checks before production, during the production run, and after completion to ensure top quality.
- Assist with clean‑up procedures (e.g., removing ink from machines, dusting).
- Help maintain a clean and organized HP area.
- Keep the work area clean and orderly at the end of each shift.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and in operable condition at all times.
- Notify appropriate personnel regarding any malfunctioning equipment.
- Maintain maximum production within the limits of staffing and machine capability.
- Perform inventory checks regularly to ensure availability of supplies and consumables.
- Know and follow all departmental safety procedures.
- Report work‑related injuries to the supervisor.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to make sound and practical decisions.
- Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and semi‑technical procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
