Position Summary
The Fabrication Shop Supervisor provides full operational leadership for the Fabrication Shop, overseeing personnel, workflow, quality, and schedule execution. This role manages staffing, assigns work, monitors performance, and ensures that all fabrication activities meet safety, quality, and cost expectations. The Supervisor is also responsible for Costpoint and TIP/SFE inputs and outputs, ensuring accurate labor charging, routing, and job cost tracking. This position serves as the primary interface with internal customers, engineering, and other departments to plan, coordinate, and deliver fabrication work.
This position is Onsite and will require commuting to a designated office.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Fabricators, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and corrective actions.
- Assign daily and long-range work, set priorities, and monitor progress, quality, and efficiency.
- Own all Costpoint and TIP/SFE labor, routing, and job-cost entries, ensuring accuracy of inputs and outputs for all shop work.
- Develop and maintain shop schedules, staffing plans, and workload forecasts.
- As needed, create job estimates from drawings, including labor, materials, tooling, for project planning.
- Coordinate fabrication activities with engineering, QA, project management, and customers.
- Coordinate with IPS, procurement of materials, tooling, and certifications; expedite as needed.
- Resolve production, personnel, and technical issues impacting schedule or quality.
- Oversee layout, design, and fabrication of tools, fixtures, and custom assemblies.
- Review and approve routing information and fabrication documentation.
- Drive process improvements, new methods, and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, training requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accountability for cost, schedule, and performance of the Fabrication Shop.
- Perform additional management duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of formal vocational/technical training or an associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- Ten to fifteen years of progressive experience in metal fabrication, with strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and shop operations.
- Demonstrated experience supervising employees, managing workloads, and overseeing project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong applied math skills relevant to fabrication, layout, and material calculations.
- Familiarity with fabrication tooling, material behavior, and shop equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
