Packaging Engineer
The Packaging Lead oversees daily packaging operations to ensure cannabis products are accurately, efficiently, and compliantly prepared for distribution. This role coordinates workflow, trains and supports packaging team members, and ensures all products meet quality, labeling, and regulatory standards. The Packaging Lead is responsible for monitoring productivity, maintaining packaging supplies and equipment, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures throughout the packaging process.
Responsibilities- Process and package all manufactured cannabis products using various manual and automated packaging equipment. Maintain equipment for daily use, including cleaning and troubleshooting.
- Uplift and motivate the packaging team.
- Work with the packaging manager to prioritize workflow and product demand.
- Ensure packaging associates perform work in a safe and clean manner while encouraging efficiency to hit production KPIs and metrics.
- Work within the State‑mandated inventory control system to ensure compliance with labeling and inventory controls.
- Minimum high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in packaging, production, or manufacturing; cannabis industry experience strongly preferred.
- Previous leadership experience or lead‑level responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of packaging processes, quality standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to train, motivate, and guide team members professionally and clearly.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with tracking systems, spreadsheets, or cannabis compliance software (e.g., METRC).
- Remain compliant with all legal and company regulations.
- Effective communication via email and phone.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends if requested.
- At least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain all state‑required cannabis badging, including a pre‑employment background check.
- Valid driver’s license or state .
- Capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking for long durations.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Potential exposure to dust, pollen, and plant pathogens.
- May require daily use of provided PPE.
Maryland Pay Range: $23 - $23 USD
