Job Overview
Maryland Environmental Service is looking for a qualified individual to lead the Facility Safety and Employee Training programs at the Montgomery County Materials Recycling Facility in Derwood, MD. The Montgomery MRF is an industrial facility that receives, sorts, bales, and loads approximately 75,000 tons of fiber and commingled recyclable materials each year from Montgomery County’s curbside collection program.
Responsibilities- Conduct inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Prepare detailed reports in a high‑volume, fast‑paced industrial environment.
- Coordinate with Facility staff and the Safety Department to maintain an accident‑free operation and achieve safety and training goals.
- Lead the facility’s safety and employee training programs.
$55,256.40 – $75,978.12

- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety & Health, Science or Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in an industrial setting and working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 for General Industry; OR
- Associate’s Degree with at least 5 years of experience; OR
- High school graduate with 10 years of relevant experience supporting or managing safety programs in an industrial setting.
- Valid driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Passage of a HAZMAT physical exam.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in waste management or recycling operations.
- CSP Certification.
- Additional experience beyond the required years of experience.
