Paint & Powder Coat Technician

Responsibilities

• Apply paint, powder coat, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer using spray equipment or manual techniques to protect and finish products, equipment, or structures.
• Prepare surfaces for coating by sanding, scraping, cleaning, masking, and removing old coatings to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
• Operate and adjust spray equipment, including powder coat systems, to achieve consistent coverage and finish thickness.
• Review work orders, specifications, and instructions to ensure correct coating application and appearance.
• Monitor and allow proper curing and drying times, including oven cure cycles for powder coating, prior to inspection and next production steps.
• Perform routine cleaning, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of spray guns, powder coat equipment, booths, and related tools.
• Inspect coated parts for quality, thickness, defects, and finish to ensure compliance with customer and internal standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
• Provide guidance, training, or review of work for less experienced painters or powder coaters (level dependent).

• Ability to read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn and expand skills across painting and powder coating operations.
• Dependable attendance with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
