The roleUpper Occoquan Service Authority (UOSA) is seeking a Wastewater Collections Operator to join our Delivery Systems team. This is a hands‑on role supporting the operation, maintenance, and security of wastewater collection stations and lines.
One position is available and may be filled at Trainee, Operator III, or Operator II level, based on qualifications.
Salary ranges:- Trainee: $48,058–$76,892
- Operator III: $51,422–$82,275
- Operator II: $55,021–$88,034
Starting salary will be between the minimum and midpoint of the applicable range.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wastewater stations and lines
- Operate and maintain Delivery Systems equipment
- Support pump stations, force mains, interceptors, and related infrastructure
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Assist with emergency and on‑call work, including weekends and holidays
- Work in wastewater environments where biological and chemical hazards may be present
UOSA is a leading water recycling facility serving Fairfax County, Prince William County, and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. Established in 1978, UOSA is the first and longest‑operated indirect potable reuse project in the United States.
Our facility recycles up to 54 million gallons of water per day and plays a key role in Northern Virginia’s drinking water strategy.

You will need:
- High school diploma or GED
- Mechanical aptitude and dependability
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 75 pounds
- CDL Class B with Tanker Endorsement “N,” or ability to obtain it within six months, depending on level
- Relevant experience, certifications, or testing required for Operator III or II level
