About the roleForterra is seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metalworking and fabrication techniques, with the ability to read and interpret schematics. This role requires mechanical knowledge and hands‑on experience with various fabrication tools and machinery. As a Fabricator/Welder, you will contribute to the production of high‑quality components used in various applications.
Whatyou’ll do
- Ability to operate the following machine shop equipment:
- HAAS CNC Mills (willing to train right candidate)
- Lathe
- Drill Press
- Band saw
- Media blasting
- Angle Grinder
- Painting quality finishes on various materials.
- Hot Coat Powder Coat System.
- Use various hand tools for dimensionally checking parts such as but not limited to calipers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, countersink indicators.
- Use of basic Hand and power tools to complete tasking.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Accredited trade school diploma may be substituted for two years industrial experience.
- Three years machine shop or related experience.
- Experience in low quantity high diversity parts such as brackets, heatsinks, and electrical enclosures.
- Experience TIG welding Aluminum.
Background in fabricating and welding. - Ability to interpret engineering drawings and requirements.
- Ideal candidate will be able to perform (or willing to learn) each step of the build process from stock cutting, machining, bending, welding, hardware install, and painting.
- Creativity of fixturing parts for machining and welding.
- Cross check other team members parts as needed.
- Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Safe lifting technique and ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend or lift for long periods of time.
- Experience with 3D cad software.
- Experience with CNC machine operation or programming.
$35 — $40 / hour
LocationOn‑Site - Clarksburg, MD. Occasional travel may be required. Occasional night and weekend work may be required.
Salary RangeThe salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full‑time, high‑demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package.
