McCormick is a leader in herbs, spices, seasonings, and condiments and we're always looking for new people to bring their unique flavor to our team. We are looking to hire a Preweigh Technician immediately at our Maryland Manufacturing Center in Belcamp, MD. Under general supervision, operate batch processing equipment that are equipped with a manufacturing recipe management system, batch cards, recipe sheets, SOPs and standard work instructions.
The nature of the work is team-based and requires a total task approach. The incumbent will learn and perform assigned tasks, depending on the specific manufacturing technology that is utilized across our manufacturing sites. This role will contribute to the achievement of company initiatives in order to meet our safety, quality, process reliability, customer service, cost and innovation goals. Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, while operating, monitoring and controlling equipment, systems and processes associated with dry blending and pre-weighing.
Responsibilities include:
pulling and staging a variety of raw materials for the production team according to batch card specifications/process instructions, coordinating between production and warehouse team daily concerning any raw material variances, returning remaining raw materials after Pre-weigh processes complete according to warehouse specifications, following all instructions on production cards and daily schedule, keeping accurate production records and accurate reporting in SAP and report information daily, inspecting raw materials, in-process, and finished goods for proper weight, color, overall appearance, texture, labeling, packaging, and correct/report defects, coordinating with supervisors daily concerning any scheduling variances and process improvements, performing proper sanitation, housekeeping, and safety procedures, helping maintain equipment, reporting, and/or resolving machinery breakdowns or problems, operating Fork Truck in a safe manner, participating in all team/department meetings, actively participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include: ability to operate a forklift and other mechanical equipment such as pumps, scales and dumpsters, ability to perform foundational math equations, ability to lift up to 50 lbs., high school degree or equivalent and basic computer knowledge in the form of data entry & proficiency in RF scanning, ability to work in a dusty environment with strong odors and high noise/decibel levels, ability to work in environment with frequent exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents, ability to work in warm/hot environment or warehouse conditions, adaptable to work overtime on short notice and weekends, ability to work in a team environment, and attention to detail is required.
PAPR/ Respirator use required. Other duties as assigned.
Preferred qualifications include: experience working in food manufacturing, exposure to TPM or lean manufacturing principles, 3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer.
