SMT Operator: Setup and operate assigned production equipment, using both automated equipment and manual placement, while achieving goals for quality, efficiency and productivity.

• Monitor the operation of equipment to ensure that assemblies are built to print and in compliance with applicable workmanship standards.
• Ensure that equipment and processes remain within acceptable parameters through monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Adjust machines or processes to correct problems.
• Assist with rework, hand soldering and advanced troubleshooting.
• Maintain necessary logs and records.
• Inspect printed solder paste and component alignment for accuracy.
• Understand and identify defects in accordance with applicable workmanship standard and class.
• Perform daily machine maintenance activities for assigned production equipment as specified on the Preventive Maintenance schedules.
• Perform manual placement of SMT components.
• Load feeders for equipment and wash boards as needed.
• Perform other assignments as required.
• Generate reflow oven profiles and ensure recipes meet established parameters.
• Trouble shoot, optimize, and monitor placement machine performance.
• Knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Explorer, Machine Specific software.
• Basic understanding of SMT theories (i.e., reflow profiling, screen printing defects, etc.)
• Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems with assigned production equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering assembly drawings.
• Ability to read and understand production drawings.
• Use a variety of hand tools, including calipers.
• Basic component identification skills, including all applicable SMT packages.
• Recognize and identify the different types of solder paste and their applications.
• Ability to fulfill scheduled and unscheduled overtime requirements.

First Shift 7:00am-3:30 pm

Candidate must have the ability to read and/or compare job files, bills of materials or other necessary documentation to board assemblies.

• Demonstrated ability to perform IPC Class 2-level Soldering of both SMT and through‑hole components.
• Assist with rework, hand soldering and advanced troubleshooting.
• Maintain necessary logs and records.
• Ability to conduct basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Regular attendance by the employee is required to meet production goals and customer commitment.
• Perform general housekeeping duties to provide a safe working environment at all times.
• Visual Inspection of completed pcb. Make necessary repairs based on workmanship standards.
• Solid understanding of IPC Class 2 and J-STD requirements
• Able to read and comprehend work instructions written in English.
• Ability to sit/stand up to eight (8) hours per day
• Good hand/eye coordination
• Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel or crouch. Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 pounds
• The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience with the placement and soldering of through hole, and surface mount components, both with and without use of microscope.
