Job DescriptionAs a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, Abbott focuses on innovative solutions that improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats. The Upstream Global Product Manager – High Voltage (HV) Therapies portfolio is based in Sylmar, CA or Austin, TX within the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. This is a fully onsite role.
Key Responsibilities Product Launch & Commercial Execution- The PM is responsible for the product from identification of customer and market needs to concept, development, claims and data, support for launch teams, and long‑range portfolio management.
- Recognizes new product opportunities and provides leadership for product/concept justification during the funding cycle.
- Identifies new business opportunities through market expansion or product enhancements.
- Develops strategic marketing plans that address customer needs, highlight differentiation, and drive product flow.
- Supports commercial organizations to achieve plan and update objectives.
- Provides direction to internal groups such as PMO, Operations, Finance, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory to meet business objectives.
- Drives product strategy for assigned HV products in collaboration with cross‑functional partners.
- Defines market segmentation, value proposition, targeting, positioning, claims development, and user needed.
- Collects qualitative and quantitative data through market research, customer and field engagement and analyzes data to quantify opportunity.
- Creates clear, data‑driven recommendations and other deliverables to support marketing initiatives.
- Utilizes market research, customer input, sales input, and other insights to deliver profitable and differentiated products.
- Interfaces with consultants, marketing research firms, other vendors, and customers to manage business growth.
- Understands competition and positions products to differentiate and add value.
- Ensures customer requirements and design inputs guide the development team.
- Develops the HV product family marketing plan incorporating strategic direction.
- Leads trade‑off analysis and supports R&D throughout the development cycle.
- Performs financial and data analysis modeling for new product ideas including NPV and long‑range forecasting.
- Supports downstream marketing and commercial activities when needed.
- Streamlines time to delivery and reduces risk by leveraging product development knowledge.
- Creates communication lines between global upstream marketing and all other product‑related functions.
- Collaborates across the matrix with marketing, Mar Com, education, sales, IT, and other stakeholders.
- Conceives and informs strategic direction of the HV portfolio and drives key priorities.
- Builds relationships with third‑party suppliers and manages vendor partnerships.
- Observes market trends, best practices, and new developments to cultivate a culture of test and learn.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
- At least 5 years of exposure to sales and/or marketing in healthcare, medical devices, or medical diagnostics.
- Understanding of technology and capabilities of the Division’s products.
- Knowledge of market and customer dynamics and sales processes.
- Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting medical devices/diagnostics.
- Ability to lead and influence without direct authority and work effectively across groups.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency with databases and common computer software.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Cardiac Rhythm Management experience preferred.
- Ability to travel approximately 40%, including internationally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across multiple organization levels.
- Adept at managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines promptly.
