Adult Ministries Associate

The Adult Ministries Associate helps people take meaningful next steps in their spiritual growth by expanding opportunities for biblical community through Groups. Working alongside the Director of Adult Discipleship, this role recruits, equips, coaches, and cares for Group Leaders while developing accessible, high-quality group experiences throughout the year. The Adult Ministries Associate is passionate about helping people become fully devoted followers of Jesus by connecting them to authentic biblical community.
Primary Position Responsibilities
- Launch and oversee Groups that align with Grace Fellowship's discipleship pathway.
- Recruit, identify, onboard, and develop new Group Leaders.
- Create ongoing opportunities for guests and attenders to join a Group throughout the year.
- Develop and support a diverse mix of Groups, including sermon-based groups, curriculum-based Bible studies, and affinity groups centered around shared interests, life stages, and common experiences.
- Foster a culture of multiplication by equipping existing leaders to identify and develop future Group Leaders.
- Recruit, train, coach, encourage, and provide ongoing care for Group Leaders.
- Communicate the vision, values, and expectations of Grace Fellowship Groups to leaders and participants.
- Assist with leader orientations, training events, appreciation initiatives, and ongoing development opportunities.
- Partner with the Director of Adult Discipleship to strengthen Groups as a primary pathway for spiritual growth and connection.
- Collaborate with Connections, Next Steps, and other ministries to help people move from attending services into biblical community.
- Maintain accurate Group, leader, and participant information within the church management system.
- Monitor group health, participation, leader engagement, and ministry effectiveness through reporting, follow-up, and key metrics.
- Assist with ministry events, seasonal group launches, promotional efforts, and other Adult Ministry initiatives as assigned.
Candidate Criteria
- Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and supports the mission, vision, and values of Grace Fellowship Church.
- Passionate about discipleship, biblical community, and helping people take next steps in their faith.
- Strong relational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to recruit, equip, coach, and encourage volunteers.
- Highly organized with excellent administrative and project management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and a servant-hearted approach to ministry.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning church management software.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent ministry experience preferred.
- Two or more years of experience leading small groups, discipleship ministries, volunteer teams, or comparable ministry environments preferred.
- Experience recruiting, developing, and coaching volunteer leaders is strongly preferred.
Success Outcomes
- Within the first year, this leader will:
- Increase the number of open Groups available for new people to join.
- Launch at least ten diverse Group options by October 1 that people can join immediately.
- Establish multiple "always open" Group opportunities throughout the year.
- Develop new affinity-based communities that connect people through shared interests.
- Recruit, train, and onboard new Group Leaders on a consistent basis.
- Strengthen leader coaching, care, and support systems.
- Help more people move from weekend attendance into meaningful biblical community.
- Contribute to a healthy culture of multiplication where new leaders and Groups are continually developed.
Working Hours and Conditions
- Business Hours /Exceptions
- This position is full time with various hours including evenings and weekends a required by ministry needs. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required during designated all-church events, including Christmas, Easter, and Fall Launch.
- Working Environment
- Primarily office-based with regular movement throughout church facilities. Occasional lifting of ministry materials and event supplies up to 25 pounds may be required.
- Travel Requirements
- Occasional offsite meetings and periodic travel for training, conferences, professional development, or multi-campus support may be required.
Salary
Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
