Capital Region Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Acute Care Emergency Surgery (ACES) Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing surgical services team in Largo, Maryland.
This full‑time day position offers an exciting opportunity to practice in a dynamic environment providing care for trauma, acute care surgery, and critically ill surgical patients. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient‑centered care.
In addition to supporting the ACES service, providers may assist with urology, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, and thoracic surgery services as needed. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure competency across all aspects of the ACES team, with opportunities for cross‑training and coverage across additional APP service lines.
Position Highlights- Primarily scheduled for 11‑hour day shifts
- Manage trauma and acute care surgery patients across the continuum of care

- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services to critically ill and surgical patients
- Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical examinations
- Conduct daily rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary patient care
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing and imaging studies
- Formulate diagnoses and implement treatment plans
- Manage trauma and acute surgical patients throughout hospitalization
- Communicate effectively with attending physicians, consulting services, nursing staff, patients, and families
- Perform advanced procedures within approved privileges, including central venous catheter placement, chest tube insertion, and additional trauma and surgical procedures as credentialed
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations
- First assist in the operating room
- Identify and communicate patient safety concerns and process improvement opportunities
- Support quality improvement initiatives and organizational patient safety goals

- Bachelor’s degree and graduation from an ARC‑PA accredited Physician Assistant program with current NCCPA certification and Maryland licensure
