Role OverviewSenior Charge Nurse (Band 7) – Paediatric Acute Receiving Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.
We are looking for an inspirational leader who is caring, compassionate and motivated to join our strong, empowered, and highly skilled nursing team. The Senior Charge Nurse will have responsibility for the clinical area, providing professional, clinical and managerial leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person‑centred care.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the nursing team, including recruitment, supervision and staff development
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe and effective care in line with national and local standards
- Support patient flow within an acute environment and maintain patient safety
- Drive quality improvement, governance and service development initiatives
- Promote a positive team culture aligned with NHS Lothian values
The successful candidate will be a Registered Children’s Nurse, educated to degree level (or working towards), with significant experience in acute paediatrics and a strong track record in leadership and service improvement.
Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills are essential, alongside a commitment to delivering high standards of care and supporting staff wellbeing.
Additional RequirementsTo work in the United Kingdom, a legal requirement exists to demonstrate that you have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.
Candidates must also have a PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult). If not currently a PVG member, an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before beginning in post.
