University of Maryland Capital Region Health is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Neuroscience Program. This full-time day position offers the opportunity to work alongside leading specialists in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, and neurointerventional radiology while providing care to patients with complex neurological and cerebrovascular conditions.
Whether your passion lies in stroke care, neurointerventional procedures, neurosurgical management, or critical care neuroscience, this role offers exposure to the full continuum of neurological care within a collaborative and innovative environment.
Diverse Clinical Experience- Primary responsibility covering Neurosurgery and Neurointerventional Radiology day services.
- Exposure to a wide variety of neurological and cerebrovascular conditions.
- Collaborative practice alongside neurosurgeons, neurointerventionalists, neurologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Opportunity for cross-training and cross-coverage within additional neuroscience specialty services.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex neurosurgical and neurovascular patients.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, daily rounds, and treatment planning.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies.
- Coordinate care across multiple specialties and care settings.
- Educate and support patients and families throughout their treatment journey.
- Perform advanced procedures including:
- Intracranial monitoring placement and management
- External ventricular drain (EVD) management
- VP shunt taps
- Suturing and wound care
- Participate as a first assist in the operating room when appropriate.
- Comprehensive onboarding and neuroscience-focused training.
- Opportunity to develop expertise in neurointerventional and stroke care.
- Participation in APP Council initiatives and neuroscience service line leadership activities.
- Involvement in quality improvement, research, education, and program development opportunities.
- Mentorship and teaching opportunities with APP colleagues and other learners.
- Continuing education support with specialty-focused CME requirements.

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
- RN experience required.
- Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
- Active Maryland Nurse Practitioner license.
- Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
- NCCPA certification required.
- Active Maryland Physician Assistant license.
- One year of experience in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, stroke care, or a related neuroscience specialty.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Eligible for credentialing through the University of Maryland Capital Region Health Medical Staff Office.
- ATLS certification preferred.
