Job Description DetailsOverview
The Graduate Nurse (GN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The GN applies the nursing process and performs delegated functions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and CHMC policies.
EducationGraduation from an accredited nursing program (AA, BSN, or MSN).
Registration/Certification/LicensureGraduation from an accredited nursing program. After successful completion of nursing boards and receipt of licensure, GN will move to RN role.
ExperienceNew Graduate Nurse
Other RequirementsMaintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
BLS Required
Must be in pursuit of licensure as a registered nurse. Must take NCLEX exam within 90 days of hire.
May not continue practicing as a GN if NCLEX is failed.
