American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring an active MD or Compact RN license and 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience.
Details- Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital environment
- Patient population includes cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), CAD (STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB w/ RVR, cardiogenic shock), vascular (peripheral bypasses, EVAR), and thoracic (VATS) cases
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours,
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience required
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT), and ventilator management
- Experience with CABG, IABP, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, Swan Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, valve repair/replacement, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG required
- CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
- First-time travelers with extensive CVICU/open heart experience will be considered
- Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular, surgical, renal, and neurological patients including those requiring CRRT, ECMO, Impella, and hypothermia protocols
- Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
- Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility unless locals are specifically accepted
- Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested; if more than 4 consecutive days are requested, an additional week must be added to the back end of new contracts
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on unit staffing needs
- Returning travelers must have been away from the health system for at least 6 months before starting a new assignment
- Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Most locations allow one contract plus one extension before requiring a 6-month break from the facility/unit
- Labs must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Compliance documentation deadline is 5 days prior to start date
