Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Responsibilities

• Locate patients and obtain accurate vital signs through visual and auditory measures.
• Triage patients and assess their medical condition.
• Prepare patients for physicals and medical treatment by physicians and nurses.
• Understand and use the electronic medical record system.
• Order lab tests, X‑rays, and medical supplies as directed.
• Notify the nurse or physician when a patient is ready for examination, communicating symptoms and relaying questions about lab or X‑ray needs.
• Assist nurses and physicians with various forms of patient treatment and care.
• Handle physician and nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner.
• Perform lab duties, including phlebotomy procedures.
• Sterilize and set up instruments.
• Receive and store supplies and restock treatment rooms as needed.
• Report to the Charge Nurse at the end of the shift.
• Follow guidelines as directed by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, DMS, and physician.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the treatment area and complete biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
• Wash, dry, fold, and restock laundry; maintain the cleanliness of the washing machine and dryer lint trap.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled by the Nurse Supervisor or DMS.
• Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained.
• Complete assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks within the shift.
• Be available to assist as needed, even if breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted to provide patient care or support center operations.
• Foster teamwork and ensure a positive, professional atmosphere.
• Provide positive, warm, and friendly service in all interactions.
• Perform all duties as assigned.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum typing experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willingness to work at any center due to a staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.00, depending on experience.
