American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring general OR and DaVinci robotics experience along with active MD or Compact RN licensure.
Details- Level II Trauma center Operating Room setting
- General OR cases spanning trauma, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, plastics, neuro, gynecology, endoscopy, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiac, and bariatric surgery
- DaVinci robotics experience required
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Epic EMR experience required
- 3x12-hour mid shifts (11:00 AM-11:00 PM), 36 hours per week
- Rotational weekend requirement inclusive of on-call shifts
- On-call required 5-6 times per 4-week period, including one weekend call
- Weekday/weeknight on-call runs from end of shift until 6:30 AM the next morning; weekend on-call is a 24-hour shift
- Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of being called in
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty and to a sister campus as needed
- Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required
- BLS certification required (AHA only); ACLS preferred (AHA only)
- CNOR and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required; 3 years preferred
- Strong general OR and robotics experience required, with skill to scrub and circulate
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in scrubbing and circulating across multiple surgical specialties
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties including general, trauma, orthopedic, cardiovascular, vascular, neuro, plastics, urology, ENT, and bariatric surgery
- Utilize robotic surgical systems including DaVinci for various specialty procedures
- Perform key OR duties such as administration of blood products, cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, infection control, specimen handling, IV starts, urinary catheterization, and wound management
- Participate in emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia procedures
- Travelers are first to float and must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
- First-time travelers accepted with strong general OR and robotics experience
- Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Return travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system after completing an assignment
- Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
