Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Supervisor of Student Services:
Health Services serves as the school system's leader for health services programming, clinical practice oversight, and student health initiatives. The Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating a comprehensive school health services program that promotes student wellness, safety, attendance, and academic achievement. The position ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards; supervises health services personnel; coordinates health-related emergency preparedness and risk management activities;
manages departmental operations and resources; and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure equitable access to health services and support for all students.
Education, Certification and
Experience:
At the time of application, the candidate must hold or be eligible for:
Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Master's degree in nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.A valid Registered Nurse License (RN) in the State of Maryland.Certified School Nurse designation preferred.Administrative and Supervisory Certification, or demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a school, healthcare, or public health setting preferred.Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in school nursing, community health nursing, or related healthcare setting, including leadership responsibilities preferred.Knowledge, Abilities and

Thorough knowledge of public health principles, school nursing practices, and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines governing school health services.Knowledge of COMAR regulations, Maryland Nurse Practice Act requirements, MSDE School Health Services Guidelines, FERPA, HIPAA, and student health reporting requirements.Ability to supervise, evaluate, mentor, and support professional and support staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.Demonstrated leadership, organizational, project management, and strategic planning skills.Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and use data to evaluate programs, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement.Knowledge of budget development, fiscal management, resource allocation, and procurement practices.Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate professional learning and health services programs.Knowledge of crisis management, emergency preparedness, communicable disease response, and school safety procedures.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, staff, healthcare providers, community agencies, and government organizations.Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and make decisions in complex and time-sensitive situations.Proficiency in the use of technology and data systems applicable to health services administration.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.Essential Job Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties:
Develops, implements, supervises, and evaluates a comprehensive school health services program that ensures the effective delivery of health services and promotes student achievement, wellness, and well-being throughout the school system.Participates in district strategic planning initiatives and develops health services goals, priorities, and performance measures aligned with Board of Education and Student Services objectives.Develops, revises, and implements health services procedures, protocols, and operational guidance.Collects, analyzes, and reports health services data to evaluate program effectiveness, support continuous improvement, and fulfill local, state, and federal reporting requirements.Ensures compliance with COMAR, the Maryland Nurse Practice Act, MSDE School Health Services Guidelines, FERPA, HIPAA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Interprets school health laws, regulations, and policies for school nurses, administrators, and staff.Ensures compliance with immunization…
