Hamilton Associates, a diverse, growth‑oriented, Lean‑driven, ISO‑Certified manufacturing company, is currently seeking an experienced Quality Technician to join our team.

Position Overview

As our Quality Technician
, this individual will report to our Quality Assurance Manager and perform quality control inspections—first article, incoming, in‑process and final—and provide overall management of the Elevator Safety Company (ELSCO) nonconforming products process. This individual will maintain the ELSCO QA lab (equipment and records) and provide critical support for the effective implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard(s).

Responsibilities
  • Incoming Inspection
    • Maintain Incoming Inspection List
    • Maintain part‑specific Characteristic Historical Inspection Plans
    • Manage performance of inspections—either in‑house or at vendor facility
    • Develop written processes for part inspection and initiate development of inspection fixtures (with Engineering assistance)
    • Maintain inspection records/database
    • Monitor vendor performance, providing assistance in resolving quality‑related issues
  • In‑process inspection and final testing
    • Perform and assist other employees in parts testing, in‑process inspection, and final inspection/testing—also provide assistance in troubleshooting problems
    • Review and maintain in‑process inspection forms generated by the ELSCO production department when required
  • Management of nonconforming products
    • Overall management of ELSCO nonconforming items identified at any point in the process from incoming inspection through product returned by the customer
    • Maintain records/database
    • Lead internal Material Review Board (MRB) activities
    • Monitor vendor performance and provide assistance in resolving quality‑related issues, providing vendor feedback on corrective action status
    • Recommend training, re‑training, or process creation to address internal issues
  • Provide First Article Inspection/Review for product sustainment activities
    • Monitor and manage the flow of submitted first‑article samples
    • Ensure related first‑article inspection information/documentation is available for the parts to be inspected (vendor inspection report, material certification, test report)
    • Initiate the part inspection process for the first‑article piece, soliciting technical expertise from other areas in the organization as necessary
    • Prepare first‑article report and associated documentation package
    • Facilitate first‑article review and sign‑offs
    • Assist with submission of first‑article report to vendor and with communication regarding open/quality issues
    • Maintain first‑article inspection records
  • Provide support for the implementation of the Corrective Action process
    • Support the Quality Coordinator for issuance of Corrective Action Requests
    • Follow up on responses to Corrective Action Requests, verify effectiveness of corrective actions, and close requests
  • Provide support for the implementation of the management of test and calibrated equipment
    • Support the Sr. Quality Specialist for locating and collecting equipment to be sent to qualified vendors for service and calibration when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Background and

Skills Required:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years’ related quality control experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and similar calibrated instruments
  • Ability to read, interpret, and measure products in accordance with engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality management standard
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, database software, ERP software, and computer/data entry skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; some experience preparing and writing work instructions
  • Excellent communication skills—capable of effectively communicating with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and customers
  • Occasional local travel to vendors and/or customer sites

Additional Background and Skills Preferred:

  • Some college credits or Associate’s Degree in a technical field
