QA Specialist / Manager, Quality Engineering
Essential Functions:
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the QMS in accordance with applicable standards (i.e. ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits (customer, regulatory, and certification audits).
- Develop, maintain, review, analyze, and report quality metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including root cause analysis and effectiveness verification.
- Support document control activities, including review, revision, and maintenance of quality procedures, work instructions, and records.
- Perform vendor management and participate in nonconformance investigations related to product, process, or supplier issues.
- Support supplier quality activities, including supplier evaluations and surveys, supplier visits, and corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain) to promote quality awareness and compliance.
- Assist in training employees in quality processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure quality records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with retention requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using quality tools and methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another technical field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Systems role (manufacturing or technology environment preferred).
- Working knowledge of quality management systems and audit processes.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with quality management software is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality standards.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Experience in RF, electronics, or defense‑related manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of regulatory or customer‑driven quality requirements.
Salary Range: $80,000 – 92,000 per year.
Location:
Onsite in Sparks, MD with a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday OFF).
