Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician ensures that all products meet stringent quality and safety standards before shipment to customers. This role involves monitoring multiple stages of the production process, inspecting power distribution products and their electrical components, and performing basic tests to confirm compliance with internal specifications and applicable industry standards. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, solid technical understanding of manufacturing and electrical processes, and a commitment to maintaining product integrity throughout the production cycle.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform routine inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods to verify they meet defined quality and safety standards.
• Inspect power distribution products manufactured on all lines according to established inspection work instructions, confirming proper function of systems and electrical components.
• Identify product non-conformances and ensure all products meet customer specifications, safety requirements, and internal quality criteria.
• Conduct tests on materials and products using industry-standard tools, techniques, and equipment, including dimensional checks and torque measurements.
• Accurately record inspection results, test data, and quality-related findings in detailed reports for management review and compliance documentation.
• Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and adherence to approved specifications, identifying potential issues and deviations early in the process.
• Verify that products and processes comply with internal quality standards as well as relevant industry regulations and certifications.
• Troubleshoot quality issues by collaborating with production staff, investigating root causes, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process adjustments to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
• Ensure all testing and inspection equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and used correctly for quality functions.
• Collaborate closely with production teams, engineers, and supervisors to maintain and improve quality standards across the production cycle.
• Follow all safety procedures and work practices appropriate for a manufacturing floor environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Support training and knowledge sharing within the team by demonstrating inspection and testing procedures to colleagues as needed.

Essential skills include:

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience in a quality control or manufacturing environment, ideally within the manufacturing sector.
• Working knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality is a plus.
• Practical understanding of quality control processes and techniques.
• Familiarity with inspection tools and testing equipment, including dimensional measurement tools and torque tools.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, wiring diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in inspection and testing activities.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues effectively.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly report findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands to handle and feel components and tools.
• Ability to frequently stoop, lift, carry, push, pull, and grip, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling 50 pounds or more with or without accommodation.

Additional skills and qualifications include:

• Associate degree in quality control, manufacturing, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is considered a bonus.
