Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility, RIE

Edinburgh’s Clinical Research Facility (CRF) incorporates The Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility (WTCRF) at the WGH, the RIE Clinical Research Facility (RIECRF), Lothian Commercial Research Delivery Centre (LCRDC) & Children’s Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators of all disciplines to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely.

We are recruiting innovative and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to assist us in providing high quality planned nursing care for patients and volunteers participating in clinical research. This advert refers to posts available in the Edinburgh CRF, 1 post Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, 1 post Western General Edinburgh.

We work with researchers from most clinical specialties with the aim of improving people’s health and better understanding of clinical conditions. Our focus is on developing new ways of diagnosing and treating disease.

Research nurses play a vital role in the delivery of NHS Lothian’s Research and Development objectives through the co-ordination of studies, management of research data and the delivery of specialist nursing care required as part of the studies.

As part of the clinical research team, Research Nurses will have responsibility for the delivery of direct and indirect care and associated data collection for research studies undertaken in the CRF, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines, to ensure the effective running of research studies on a day-to-day basis, while having responsibility and accountability for maintaining clinical, staff and research governance.
