Principal Scientist

My client seeks a Principal Scientist to build and lead a team focused on developing assays and devices for point-of-care diagnostics. The ideal candidate will take on the following tasks:

• Design, develop, validate, and characterize isothermal DNA amplification assays and devices for use in point-of-care, medical diagnostic device products.
• Develop and perform DNA extraction sample preparation methods.
• Design primers for DNA amplification assays.
• Perform antibody conjugation for lateral flow assays.
• Design, develop, verify, and validate novel isothermal nucleic acid amplification assays.
• Perform hands-on bench work to contribute to research and product development of DNA amplification assays and devices.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry and 5-10+ years of industry experience.
• Strong expertise in primer design and nucleic acid amplification technologies including PCR, LAMP, and RPA isothermal amplification technologies.
• Experience developing molecular diagnostics.
• Experience with point-of-care nucleic acid tests and isothermal amplification methods.
• Excellent molecular biology and biochemistry knowledge and laboratory techniques.
• Experience with antibody biochemistry, including recombinant protein expression, purification, and characterization.
