Under general supervision, provides customer assistance throughout the Starting Gate Campus Store. Responsible for opening and/or closing the Mustangs Team Store during athletic events, as well as other special events held on campus. Performs cashier duties; register functions include sales, refunds, cash management of register and change box; delegating tasks and overseeing student employees; overseeing store operations in manger’s absence; responsible for maintaining positive customer relations;
shared responsibility of keeping store(s) professional and presentable at all times. Responsibilities are performed with considerable independence.
High School diploma plus one year retail experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability- Ability to work evenings.
- Ability to work a staggered schedule.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain positive customer relations.
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques, store display and selling models.
- Organizational skills.
- Skills with cash registers and/or POS systems.
- Supervisory skills.
Medium to moderate work: exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Lifting, pushing, pulling, standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, walking, talking, and hearing. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal and scanning purposes. The position is subject to both environmental conditions: activities occur inside and outside.
Activities occur on all campuses, must be able to travel between. Because of the nature of the position, employee will be expected to work additional hours, extended nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Participate in the daily operations of the Campus Store.
- Operation of a Mustangs Team Store; meets, greets, and assists public in selecting gift and other merchandise.
- Organize plan for the display and presentation of merchandise; change displays regularly with consideration to buying audience and season.
- Assist manager when meeting with vendors and product representatives to select marketable goods and gifts appropriate to the potential buying audience, season of the year and recognized customer demand.
- Processes transactions at the cash register for the sale and return of merchandise.
- Replenish stock on shelves and hangers.
- Always keep the store in an orderly and professional appearance.
- Participate in the end of the year inventory of merchandise.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
