Job Description

This role is field-based, and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and address customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance while placing the patient at the center of all efforts and operating within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, and other metrics to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns effectively to gain logical and reasonable calls to action on each sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win–win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that meets call metrics, optimizes coverage, and maximizes access and sales opportunities for key customers.
  • Continuously build market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical, and sales expertise; share this information with the in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to align strategies and anticipate environmental changes.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers, identify and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant; equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent industry experience for those without a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years total, with three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches accordingly.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment, offering innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and respond to changes.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders. Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence others.
  • Leads by example; consistently displays positive behaviors, supports peer coaching, and has documented success in leadership or support roles with increased responsibility at district, region, or organizational levels.
  • Preferred:
    Proven track record of sales performance within relevant therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical experience such as physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing. Proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing, for non‑English speaking countries.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory. Remaining in good standing and eligible to obtain required credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements. Will drive a personal auto, company vehicle, or powered material handling equipment.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting, based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and may be modified in the future.
