National Sales Manager – National – Permanent – Sales Manager
We are seeking a highly driven and experienced National Sales Manager to lead and grow our sales operations across South Africa and neighbouring countries. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and executing the company's national sales strategy, managing the dealer network, and ensuring that sales and profit objectives are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will oversee regional sales teams, foster strong dealer relationships, and ensure alignment with the company's brand standards and long-term objectives.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive national sales strategy to achieve annual sales targets, increase market share, and drive profitability.
- Direct the planning and geographic distribution of the company's products through the sales network.
- Ensure strategic vacant points are filled and succession plans for dealers are in place.
- Oversee and support the dealer network to achieve sales and profit objectives.
- Establish, present, and agree on individual dealer business plans, followed by systematic evaluations and documented follow-ups.
- Develop and recommend policies and procedures relating to dealer operational and developmental expenditure, ensuring alignment with strategy and budget.
- Develop and maintain dealer agreements, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
- Manage brand identification at dealer premises in line with budget and company standards.
- Foster and maintain the National Dealer Council as the formal communication channel between the company and its dealers.
- Conduct regular business analyses and monthly performance reviews with the dealer network.
- Track and analyze sales metrics, competitor activities, and market trends to inform strategy adjustments.
- Provide senior leadership with timely reports on sales performance, market insights, and strategic recommendations.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of regional sales managers and support staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Implement training programs for dealership staff to enhance product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service standards.
- Organize regular focus groups and forums to align strategies and address challenges.
- Collaborate with marketing, after-sales, and other internal departments to optimize customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Drive initiatives that enhance customer experience, encourage repeat business, and build brand reputation.
- Develop and manage the national sales budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources across marketing, promotions, and incentives.
- Monitor actual expenditure versus budget for both company and dealer-related costs.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Carry out additional related tasks as requested by senior management.
Experience and qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within the motor industry, ideally with exposure to dealer network management.
- Strong track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth at a national level.
- In-depth knowledge of sales strategy, budget management, and market analysis.
- Experience working across South Africa and neighbouring markets is advantageous.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- High-level analytical and financial acumen.
- Strong presentation and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands‑on operational management.
- Resilient, results‑driven, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
