Role Description The Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Pohanka Honda in Capitol Heights, MD. This position oversees the daily operations of the sales floor, including coaching and supervising sales consultants, monitoring performance, and ensuring that sales processes are consistently followed. The Sales Manager collaborates with finance and service departments to deliver a seamless customer experience, supports pricing and inventory decisions, and helps implement sales promotions.
Key responsibilities include meeting sales targets, managing customer relationships, resolving escalated issues, and maintaining compliance with dealership policies and manufacturer guidelines. The role also involves regular reporting, participation in management meetings, and contributing to ongoing improvements in sales efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in automotive sales or retail sales management, with a track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation of sales staff.
- Excellent customer service, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to handle complex or escalated customer situations.
- Solid understanding of sales processes, inventory concepts, and basic finance principles related to vehicle purchasing and leasing.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including clear verbal communication and professional written correspondence.
- Comfort with dealership technology systems and common office software; willingness to learn new tools and platforms as needed.
- Ability to work on-site full-time in a fast-paced environment, including evenings and weekends as business requires.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, management, or a related field is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and ability to operate a variety of vehicles safely.
