The Applied Science Associate I supports the cultivation of cannabis plants in an aseptic environment for commercial production. The role involves working with plant material, handling aseptic micropropagation, supporting garden experiments, and maintaining a clean, safe laboratory and cultivation facility.

This position involves working with plant material, which may include exposure to pollen, allergens, and other plant-related substances. Applicants with known plant allergies or sensitivities are advised to consult with a healthcare professional before applying.

• Support and assist in aseptic micropropagation methodologies for mass-scale clone production.
• Collect nodal stem samples for use in micropropagation and tissue culture research of Cannabis.
• Record data in laboratory notebook, data system, and/or Excel.
• Operate laboratory equipment safely.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of glassware, plasticware, and other supplies as needed.
• Keep the laboratory environment clean and organized.
• Execute techniques consistently.
• Document all applicable activities in accordance with state and company standards.
• Learn new laboratory techniques and use new equipment with instruction.
• Support experiments in the garden and follow Floriculture SOPs.
• Assist with harvesting, bucking, labeling, and/or trimming trial plants as needed.
• Assist with bottom pruning, defoliation, irrigation, transplanting, pinching, and releasing biologicals in R&D rooms as needed.

• Previous experience working with plants or in a lab environment is preferred.
• Ability to safely use sharp instruments.
• Willingness to work in tight spaces and loud environments.
• Ability to work safely around chemicals and fertilizers.
• Willingness to learn scientific concepts and use scientific equipment.
• Ability to employ sterile techniques.
• Ability to prepare buffers and plant media as needed.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
