Security Assistant, Clarksburg HS

Job Summary: Positions in this class are assigned to the local school to assist the administration maintain a safe and secure learning environment for the school community. Under the general supervision of the security team leader, assists in screening visitor access to school facilities, maintaining student class attendance, and other responsibilities related to school security operations. Receives guidance and assistance from the security team leader on the more difficult or unusual situations.

• Screen visitor access to school facilities.
• Maintain student class attendance, assist with attendance monitoring.
• Assist the security team leader with school security operations.
• Intervene in fights and restrain persons as required.
• Patrol school premises, both indoors and outdoors, in inclement weather.
• Provide coverage during flexible hours, weekends, and occasional overtime.

• High School diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in safety and security of students or others, preferably in educational environment.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Valid Maryland class C noncommercial driver’s license or equivalent.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques and security practices.

Must possess sufficient physical strength to intervene in fights and restrain persons, stamina for long periods of walking/standing, ability to patrol outdoors in extreme weather, and willingness to wear designated security uniforms.
