Job Summary
We are seeking a Security Officer to help us maintain and improve day‑to‑day security responsibilities will join a hardworking team of Security Officers supporting the mission of our analysts, engineers and scientists. The team is committed to excellence and fosters initiative and vigilance.
Responsibilities- Verify identification of employees and visitors by badge inspection and/or using the security personnel databases and provide control of all incoming and outgoing property.
- Patrol and inspect interior facilities to ensure that proper security protocols are being followed.
- Operate APL vehicles to patrol outside areas and enforce parking regulations and other security procedures.
- Write security‑related reports, complete incident forms and present them to security leadership staff.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks including use of fire extinguishers, lifting heavy objects (e.g., classified waste bags) and employment of defense tactics.
- Be assigned to one of three 24/7 shifts as directed: 7 AM‑3 PM, 3 PM‑11 PM, or 11 PM‑7 AM.
- High School diploma or equivalent plus one year of security‑related work experience (e.g., military, police, corrections) or at least 60 college credits in a relevant field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Psychology, Cybersecurity) from an accredited institution.
- Good interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to speak and write English at the level required to perform job tasks, including interaction with a variety of people and preparation of written reports.
- Basic computer knowledge, including use of a security database and email.
- Valid state of residence driver’s license in good standing.
- Willingness and ability to work occasional mandatory overtime.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret‑level security clearance by the start date and ultimately a Secret‑level clearance. Eligibility includes U.S. citizenship.
- Pass a pre‑employment physical exam prior to the start date.
- Completed accredited training in defense tactics (e.g., restraint and handcuffing techniques), CPR, standard first aid and basic criminal investigation.
- Active Secret clearance or higher.

Minimum Rate: $21.05 Hourly
Maximum Rate: $35.05 Hourly
