Position: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC with Security Clearance
Location: Andrews AFB

Duties
* Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work orders.
* Troubleshoots complex power production equipment, SUPPS Systems, battery banks, high & low voltage switch gear, banding, shielding, and grounding systems with complex problems and extensive repairing judgment to locate malfunction.
* Troubleshoots HVAC/R, and power systems with complex problems requiring judgment to locate malfunctions. Operates remote computer LAN based control systems used to automate facility infrastructure systems.
* Service as the primary Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point manager for the 89th Communications Squadron.
* Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evening, weekends and/or holidays Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance & Operations Work Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-4749 MAINTENANCE MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge, skills and abilities in at least two of the trade in this position:
Powered Support Systems Mechanic Electronics Mechanic, and/or HVAC mechanic. Knowledge of the principles and theories of LAN based computer controlled infrastructure systems.
2. Knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, and pneumatic principles to inspect, installs, test, and maintain Power Production &HVAC equipment. Knowledge of electrical grounding, shielding, and bonding principles. Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Management, regulations, practices, and procedure.
3. Knowledge of Federal, State and local power plant regulations, procedures, and policies related to recodes maintenance and documentation.
4.Skill in dismantling, repairing, and reassembling pumps, impellers, compressor, CVHE chillers towers, high pressure VAN systems. stem converters, VFD's. condensate pumps, receivers, and evaporators to include balancing, aligning, and maintaining turbines, pumps and power generators.
5. Ability to establish deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher authority. Ability to read and interpret instruction, mechanical blueprints, electrical drawings sketches, and specifications.
6. Skill in troubleshooting complex electronic problems on large projects and applying prescribed test procedures. Physical Effort The employee…
