Responsibilities
- Ensure animals are properly loaded and secured for transport.
- Decontaminate and neutralize restricted-use chemicals following EPA guidelines.
- Recognize conditions conducive to pest infestation and detect concealed infestations.
- Determine the area and scope of infestation, identifying pest type and environment.
- Conduct integrated pest management surveys and inspections.
- Set and remove traps for feral and other wild animals as required.
- Carry chemical solutions and equipment weighing up to 40 lb for extended periods.
- Complete pest control assignments independently, review results, and determine if additional procedures are necessary.
- Respond to emergency calls after regular working hours.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
- Maintain a valid state driver’s license and an installation/DoD operator’s permit for the vehicle type operated.
- Drive a utility truck or similar vehicle to and from the work site to transport yourself, supplies, and other employees.
- Hold state or federal certification in accordance with AR 200‑5 and the DoD Pest Management Plan (including DoD 4150.7).
- Remain certified, completing the 40‑hour refresher training and passing the certification test every three years.
- Wear a respirator and be physically able to wear it for up to 4 hours.
- Pass a physical examination.
- Wearing personal protective equipment at all times, including respirator, goggles, earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, hard‑hat, safety shoes, and steel‑toe shoes.
- Undergo drug testing and demonstrate handling of hazardous materials.
- Experience in pest control, including handling of hazardous chemicals and operation of motor vehicles.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- US citizenship and proof of citizenship required.
- Moderate to heavy physical effort, lifting 50 lb or more with assistance and carrying up to 40 lb for extended periods.
- Perform tasks involving climbing ladders up to 40 ft, operating pneumatic hammers, and using carpentry and masonry tools.
- Move furniture and equipment within confined spaces.
- Work both indoors and outdoors, often in hot, dusty, or limited‑ventilation environments.
- Exposure to chemicals, dust, rain, insects, and wild animals.
- Required use of protective devices such as respirators (up to 4 h), earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, hard‑hat, safety shoes, steel‑toe shoes, and coveralls.
- Male applicants born after December 31 1959 must submit a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship required.
