Job Title:

Maintenance Technician Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall functionality of buildings, grounds, and equipment at an outdoor school/resort facility. This role ensures a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for students, guests, and staff while supporting the unique needs of an outdoor, education‑based setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, cabins, classrooms, dining facilities, and recreational areas
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance needs
  • Maintain outdoor spaces including trails, fields, signage, and common areas
  • Assist with seasonal opening and closing procedures of facilities
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
  • Support event setup and breakdown (tables, equipment, lighting, etc.)
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles safely
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and organizational policies
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, supplies used, and repairs needed
  • Assist with waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate and update tasks
  • 1–3 years of general maintenance experience (facilities, hospitality, camp, or school environment)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs independently
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance vehicles
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Skills & Experience
  • Experience working in a camp, outdoor education, or resort environment
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Certifications (e.g., OSHA, HVAC, electrical) are a plus
  • Basic landscaping or groundskeeping experience
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent walking, bending, climbing, and standing
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when needed
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Work Environment
  • Primarily outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Interaction with students, guests, and staff in a dynamic environment
  • May require on‑call availability for urgent maintenance needs
