Through our rentals program, we also welcome thousands of organizations annually, expanding our impact through retreats and community‑building.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall functionality of buildings, grounds, and equipment at an outdoor school/resort facility. This role ensures a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for students, guests, and staff while supporting the unique needs of an outdoor, education‑based setting.

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, cabins, classrooms, dining facilities, and recreational areas
• Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance needs
• Maintain outdoor spaces including trails, fields, signage, and common areas
• Assist with seasonal opening and closing procedures of facilities
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
• Support event setup and breakdown (tables, equipment, lighting, etc.)
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles safely
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and organizational policies
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, supplies used, and repairs needed
• Assist with waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to use a computer to communicate and update tasks
• 1–3 years of general maintenance experience (facilities, hospitality, camp, or school environment)
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs independently
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance vehicles
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

• Experience working in a camp, outdoor education, or resort environment
• Familiarity with hand and power tools
• Certifications (e.g., OSHA, HVAC, electrical) are a plus
• Basic landscaping or groundskeeping experience

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Frequent walking, bending, climbing, and standing
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when needed
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

• Primarily outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions
• Interaction with students, guests, and staff in a dynamic environment
• May require on‑call availability for urgent maintenance needs

The Maintenance Technician utilizes technical skills daily to inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of systems, ensuring minimal downtime and operational efficiency. Proficiency in reading technical documents and schematics enables accurate identification of issues and effective repairs. Strong problem‑solving skills are essential for troubleshooting unexpected equipment failures and implementing timely solutions. Communication skills facilitate collaboration with team members and clear documentation of maintenance activities.

Additionally, knowledge of safety protocols ensures that all tasks are performed in compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining a safe work environment.
