Diesel Mechanic

Mid-Level Diesel Technician – Landover, Maryland

• Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)

  Monday–Friday, weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  First shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and replacements
• Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance
• Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
