Overview

The Service Technician reports to the Service Manager and is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial coffee and beverage equipment. The role ensures consistent production of high‑quality beverages by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventative maintenance, and installing new systems. Work within a designated region to minimize downtime, optimize operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional service to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial coffee and beverage equipment, including coffee and tea machines, soda dispensers, ice makers, and water filtration systems at customer locations.
  • Accurately diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues in various beverage systems, ensuring all work aligns with manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and quality‑assurance tests on equipment to ensure top performance and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and organize inventory of tools, parts, and equipment required for service, adhering to replenishment guidelines.
  • Complete all service documentation, including accurate work orders, invoices, and customer signatures, and close service calls in a timely manner.
  • Stay current on product knowledge and actively engage with customers to provide accurate information about Royal Cup products and services.
  • Adopt a sales and service mindset, identifying and pursuing opportunities for account growth, including new customer installations and referrals.
  • Participate in on‑call service, including after‑hours and weekend schedule rotation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • At least 2 years of recent experience servicing and repairing commercial equipment in the food service or beverage industries.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems and water flow, with hands‑on installation and maintenance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and hydraulic/electrical diagrams.
  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment, including water quality and pressure testing devices, refractometers, and multimeters (for AC/DC voltage, amperage, and resistance).
  • Ability to independently manage a dynamic workload, prioritize tasks, and maintain high productivity.
  • Basic technology skills, including smartphone usage and willingness to learn new mobile applications.
  • Ability to occasionally travel, including overnight stays for client service, new installations, and other projects.
  • Successful completion of the pre‑employment process.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational training in electrical or mechanical fields, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely climb, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical movements necessary for machinery maintenance, installation, and service.
  • Capability to lift, push, and pull up to 150 lbs., with assistance as needed.
  • Ability to carry up to 30 lbs. of product or equipment.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces and maintain balance in a variety of environments.
  • Ability to reach heights up to 74 inches to service equipment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing and eye protection and non‑slip shoes required in certain situations.
  • Frequent exposure to high‑traffic areas, such as kitchens, break rooms, and restaurant back‑of‑house environments.
  • Occasional exposure to slick floors and loud work environments.
