Drill-Tech is seeking an HDD Equipment Operator to support horizontal directional drilling crews on underground utility projects in Chester, Maryland.
Headquartered in Chester, Maryland, Drill-Tech performs HDD and underground utility work throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
This is a hands-on field position responsible for operating HDD equipment and supporting drilling operations while working closely with foremen, locators, and crew members.
Responsibilities- Operate HDD equipment during drilling operations
- Assist with drilling, reaming, pullback, and pipe installation
- Operate support equipment including skid steers, excavators, and loaders
- Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance
- Assist with mud mixing and drilling fluid management
- Support equipment mobilization and demobilization
- Work closely with foremen, locators, and field crews
- Maintain safe work practices and jobsite standards
- Experience operating HDD equipment or related heavy equipment
- Experience with Vermeer 23x30, 24x40, or similar directional drills preferred
- Experience operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, or similar equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors and travel as project needs require
- Class A CDL
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience operating Vermeer 100-series drills or larger HDD equipment
- Experience with 300,000 lb or 500,000 lb maxi rigs
- Experience with mud systems, drilling fluids, pumps, and recyclers
- Experience with Digi Trak or Para Track locating systems
- Experience with McElroy fusion equipment
