Position Summary
The Service Technician supports safe, reliable vehicle performance by delivering accurate diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance in a high-volume dealership setting. This role is essential to meeting manufacturer standards and maintaining customer confidence.
Key responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electrical concerns; completing repairs and scheduled services; verifying workmanship through road tests and diagnostic equipment; documenting labor, parts, and recommendations with precision; coordinating closely with Service Advisors and the shop team to sustain throughput and quality; and, as needed, providing clear explanations of findings to customers.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Prior automotive technician/mechanic experience preferred
- Applicable certifications and technical training
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and technical manuals
- Strong analytical problem-solving for complex faults
- Ability to meet physical demands (lifting, standing, shop environment)
- Professional customer service and composure in challenging situations

As a Service Technician, the day typically begins with reviewing the repair schedule and confirming parts availability before moving vehicles through inspection, diagnosis, and service steps. You will transition between bay work and brief check-ins with advisors to align on priorities and timelines, then validate results with scan data and a controlled test drive. Throughout the day, you will keep repair orders current and organized, ensuring documentation remains audit-ready and consistent with manufacturer expectations.
