About the Role:We are adding a Lead Pipefitter to lead and support field operations by managing crews and performing all aspects of mechanical construction on water and wastewater projects. This role is responsible for installing piping systems, valves, pumps, and related equipment while overseeing a small team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of construction experience
- At least 2 years of experience specializing in pipe fitting
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience leading crews or small teams
- Experience in water or wastewater construction
- Experience leading pipe fitting or mechanical crews
- Strong background in above and below ground piping systems
- Familiarity with pipe testing procedures and layout work
- Lead and supervise pipe fitting crews, typically up to 4 team members
- Perform hands-on pipe fitting work alongside crews
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings to guide installations
- Lead installation of above ground piping systems, including supports and accessories
- Lead installation of below ground piping systems while following safe excavation practices
- Perform and oversee layout, preparation, and assembly of piping systems
- Conduct and oversee pipe testing in accordance with project requirements
- Install materials accurately according to contract drawings and specifications
- Operate and maintain pipe fitting tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Coordinate with team members, subcontractors, and project staff
- Ensure work is completed accurately and meets quality and safety standards
- Strong leadership and ability to manage and motivate crews
- Advanced knowledge of pipe installation, layout, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality workmanship
- Clear communication with field teams and project staff
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt in the field
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Frequent use of hands to handle tools and materials
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at varying heights
- Ability to bend, squat, and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Ability to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
