The Burch Oil Company is a regional leader in the distribution of petroleum products and propane. The Company markets its products through Burch Oil, Burch Oil of Charles County and Burch Propane. The Company sells and distributes these products to residential and commercial customers throughout southern Maryland and parts of Virginia.

This position performs installation, maintenance and service tasks on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for commercial and residential customers.

• Diagnoses and repairs electronic, mechanical and electrical components of HVAC systems
• Travels to job site as assigned while working with the Dispatcher to ensure the schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers
• Properly completes Work Order information using Tough Pad
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays on a rotating schedule when requested
• Properly maintains company vehicles in good working order including completing routine schedule maintenance, refueling, and washing as needed
• Responsible for reporting any mechanical issues to supervisor
• Completes and submits monthly vehicle inspection form
• Maintains proper inventory level of authorized parts, tools and equipment in assigned vehicle
• Completes and submits monthly mileage log
• Keeps abreast of company pricing
• Properly completes work orders in the Company software system; assuring that all information is correct regarding labor, parts, pricing and scope of work completed
• Reviews work order information with customers, and secures customers’ signatures
• Completes and presents invoices to customers at time work is completed verifies customer information including e-mail address
• Documents, in the customer’s account, the make, model and serial number for all HVAC equipment located on the premises
• Diagnoses service issues for various equipment and explain findings to customers and explain corrective action needed to repair
• Submit requests for special parts orders
• Picks up stock replenishment parts from Main Office at least once per week
• Completes job correctly on the first visit
• Ensures that the work area at customer’s site is left clean and neat
• Promotes excellent customer service by always exceeding customer expectations
• Immediately reports any unsafe issues with assigned vehicle to supervisor immediately reports any unsafe issues with customer’s fuel tank or equipment to supervisor
• Participates in Company provided training opportunities when requested
• Operates assigned Company vehicle in a safe manner while obeying all traffic laws
• Observes all Company policy and procedures including all safety rules and laws
• Assists other service technicians as needed
• Completes other tasks as requested

REQUIRED SKILLS &

COMPETENCIES:

• Valid Maryland driver’s license
• Clean driving record
• Have five to seven years of HVAC service experience
• Have good analytical skills and attention to detail
• Have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and manuals
• Able to work independently
• Must be able to pass a drug test(s) as required
• Able to lift over 50 pounds; push, pull and maneuver heavier items; carry ladders; work from various heights as well as in crawl spaces and attics
• Proficient with computers and handheld devices like iPhones and Tough Pads
• Able to work in various software systems as required
