Position Summary
The Residential Service Pro Electrician is a skilled, licensed field technician responsible for the diagnosis, installation, repair, and maintenance of residential electrical systems on service calls throughout the DMV service area. The position serves as the primary customer-facing technical representative on assigned service calls and is responsible for delivering technically proficient, code-compliant work while maintaining the highest standards of customer communication and satisfaction.
The incumbent is also responsible for the direct mentorship and on-the-job training of assigned apprentices.
This position reports directly to the Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager, who oversee the residential service division and report to the President and Vice President of the Company.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are considered essential functions of this position. This list is not exhaustive; the incumbent may be required to perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Technical and Field Responsibilities- Diagnose and troubleshoot residential electrical issues; identify root causes and present customers with clear, detailed options and recommendations.
- Identify and remediate safety hazards, code violations, and non-compliant installations in accordance with the NEC, Maryland State electrical standards, and applicable Montgomery County regulations.
- Perform repair, replacement, and installation of electrical systems, panels, wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, switches, fixtures, and related equipment to code.
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit for new and existing electrical installations.
- Source, procure, and manage all materials required to complete approved work efficiently and within scope.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the duration of each job and upon completion.
- Operate a company vehicle safely and in accordance with all applicable traffic laws and company vehicle policies.
- Present flat-rate pricing options to customers in a transparent and professional manner prior to performing work.
- Communicate technical findings, recommendations, and solutions clearly to customers, regardless of their technical background.
- Complete all required job documentation, service records, and estimates accurately and promptly upon job completion or at the time of estimate.
- Identify and present additional service opportunities that address customer safety needs or improve the condition of the customer's electrical systems.
- Represent the Company with professionalism, integrity, and a customer-first attitude on every service call.
- Maintain consistent and proactive communication with the office, dispatch, customers, and fellow team members throughout each workday.
- Provide hands-on mentorship, guidance, and training to assigned apprentice electricians in residential electrical work, applicable codes, and safe work practices.
- Adhere to all company policies, OSHA standards, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures at all times.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused team culture.
- Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License (or a valid license from a state with Maryland reciprocity), with a minimum of 3 years of field experience.
