Electrical Technician 4 – Job Overview

Electrical Technician 4 is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial environments. Must comply with local, state, and national electrical codes, ensuring safety and workmanship standards.

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, equipment, and control systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, OSHA, and local jurisdiction requirements.
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify electrical issues and implement repairs.
• Install and connect panels, transformers, motors, lighting systems, and control devices.
• Test electrical systems and continuity using appropriate testing instruments.
• Coordinate work with project managers, foremen, inspectors, and other trades.
• Supervise and provide guidance to apprentices when assigned.
• Document work performed, materials used, and changes to plans.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and jobsite cleanliness.
• Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and company policies.

• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, circuitry, and code requirements.
• Ability to read technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Experience in commercial or industrial electrical work.
• Experience with low-voltage systems, fire alarm, or control systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• CPR/First Aid training.
• Experience working on active construction sites.

• Education and/or Skills Required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program.
• Education and/or Skills Preferred
  • High school Diploma/GED.
• Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license (state or local, as applicable).
  • Ability to maintain required certifications.
