Fabricator​/Welder

L&L Inc is now accepting applications for the position of Fabricator/Welder. This role is responsible for welding, fitting, and fabricating parts and assemblies to specification, while following direction from the shop manager and maintaining a general working knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and techniques.

• Ability to work in the United States.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and welding symbols (per AWS A2.4) to determine joint design, weld type, size, and placement.
• Study and interpret assembly instructions, work orders, and specifications; interpret measurements accurately using standard and metric tools.
• Proficiency in one or more welding processes, such as MIG (GMAW) or TIG (GTAW)
• Ability to perform welds in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) as the job requires.
• Working knowledge of base metals and filler metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.) and the ability to select appropriate materials and settings for the job.
• AWS certification, or the ability to pass a welding qualification/weld test, is preferred.
• Use mathematics to solve problems; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and correctly.
• Ability to physically perform the requirements of the job, including heavy lifting up to 100 lbs, and working in a variety of positions (standing, kneeling, bending, or overhead) for extended periods.
• Ability to determine the tools, equipment, and welding process needed to complete a job correctly and safely.
• Ability to read gauges, dials, amperage/voltage settings, and other indicators to confirm equipment is operating properly.
• Ability to visually inspect welds and recognize defects or problems (such as porosity, undercut, warping, or incomplete penetration) as they arise, or recognize when a machine or process is not working correctly.
• Knowledge of and strict adherence to shop safety procedures, including proper use of PPE (welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing), ventilation practices, and fire/hot-work safety.
• Ability to imagine and visualize how a piece or assembly will look before, during, and after the project is completed.
• Punctual and dependable attendance.
