Software developers deserve great tools — and you will build them. In this role, you will focus on improving the productivity and day-to-day experience of a software engineering team by designing and delivering advanced developer tooling with a strong emphasis on AI and automation.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI, integrating large language models and agent-based systems into real development workflows — shipping tools that people actually use and that make a measurable difference. You will collaborate with developers and customers to gather feedback, iterate quickly, and document what works. This position is located in Laurel, MD.

• 12 years of software engineering experience, or 16 years in lieu of a B.S. in a technical discipline
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in one or more modern programming languages
• Hands-on experience with IDEs, developer tools, or build and test systems
• Demonstrated experience with AI- or LLM-powered developer tools, including chat-based interfaces or automated coding agents
• Ability to prototype, evaluate, and iteratively refine experimental tooling
• Solid understanding of software development workflows and best practices
• An active TS//SCI clearance with polygraph

• Experience with automated code review or static analysis tools
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks or orchestration systems
• Experience working on developer platforms or internal engineering enablement teams
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
• Experience developing VS Code extensions (Type Script, Electron)

$282,000 – $332,000

This range includes flexible income and depends on annual work hours. Salary is determined after interview and based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and certifications.
